After Dark Nature Tours was founded by Jess Relton who wanted to develop an experience for people to come in contact with a world that most people don’t get an opportunity to witness.

The idea of using night vision technology came about when Jess felt the traditional method of using spotlights to view nocturnal animals disturbed them unnecessarily and didn’t allow the viewer to observe the wildlife in their natural ways.

Jess Relton is a conservation biologist and has a strong passion for the natural environment. Currently employed as a Ranger for the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service, he has worked with local Councils, TAFE NSW, Aboriginal Lands Councils, employment and training organisations and the Department of Education and training on programs where his deep knowledge and understanding of this field has been utilised. Jess has worked on youth and adult environmental education programs sharing his knowledge and experience with people and broadening their understanding of the natural Environment, the Australian flora and wildlife and how they are impacted on by human activity.

Jess is fascinated with the amazing and intricate beauty of the natural world and the interactions across systems and species. He also has an extensive background in indigenous bush foods and medicines and loves to share his learnings.
