Your safety, the safety of others and the safety and protection of the vegetation and wildlife when on tour is very important to us. Please be familiar with our health and safety policy so we all have an enjoyable experience. Please also read the important information to assess your readiness for an After Dark experience.
To complete an After Dark Tour, you will need:
A reasonable level of fitness and strength
A high level of agility
Full body control and hand-eye-foot co-ordination
The ability to walk independently at night along a bush track (unsupported by walking aids)
It is a legal requirement for every participant to complete an After Dark Nature Tours Participation Declaration & Disclaimer Form before participating. This will be provided to you on the day.
The following may impact your ability to participate safely:
If you are pregnant, please review pregnant participants section below
If you have an allergy to nuts/ dairy. (Food may be provided)
If you are over 59 years of age
All heart conditions (including high blood pressure)
All respiratory conditions
Back, limb or joint injuries
Missing limbs or part thereof, inclusive of prosthetics
Loss of balance; visual impairment (except wearing prescription glasses or contact lenses), and learning conditions
Why? Because our tour experiences include:
walking for the whole tour
walking at night
Walking on uneven surfaces and areas of narrow pathways
Exposure to all weather conditions
You cannot participate if you:
Are under 12 years of age for the Night Wonders Tour
Have a blood alcohol reading of 0.05% or higher. Any person displaying signs of intoxication may be asked to conduct a breath test before participating on the tour. Any persons over the limit will not be allowed to participate and their ticket becomes invalid
Are under the influence of any mind altering prescribed or non prescribed drugs
Have broken bones
Have undergone surgery in the last 6 months or are experiencing ongoing symptoms
Have experienced a fit or seizure in the past 6 months and do not hold a driver’s license for this reason
If you take essential medication
At After Dark Nature Tour’s discretion, essential medication may be taken on the tour (For example, asthma inhalers or diabetic medication). Please speak to your guide on the day
Pregnant participants:
Pregnant participants less than 24 weeks are required to consult a medical practitioner before participating and must ask the medical practitioner to sign an After Dark Nature Tours Certificate of Fitness Form
If you are over 24 weeks pregnant you cannot participate
Still concerned?
If you believe your health and safety, or that of other participants, may be put at risk by you taking part, you should not join the tour. If you have concerns about your ability to participate safely, please consult your treating doctor. We recommend that all participants with any concerns read the After Dark Nature Tours Certificate of Fitness Form prior to participating.
Please be aware that even if you have made a reservation, After Dark Nature Tour’s reserve the right to decline participation or modify your chosen tour experience. The health and safety conditions of participating are subject to change at After Dark Nature Tour’s discretion.
